From Passion to Profit: Turn Your Love for Coloring into a Lucrative Business

Is Creating Coloring Books Worth Your Time?

Let’s try to answer that for you.

Coloring books are still in huge demand, no doubt about that. Even today with 1000s of titles being released on Amazon you can still carve a niche if you are prepared to dig a little deeper and search for those hidden niches.

The biggest dilemma most people face is WHAT to create. Or what niche they should focus on.

Along with a process for creating them, which if you’re not an artist or designer can be daunting.

You have to:

  • find the right subject
  • create the graphics
  • compile the book
  • publish
  • market your book

All these things need to be considered and if you go the outsourcing route can be expensive, right?

It doesn’t need to be.

Here’s the main process and a few tips and resources to help you decide.

1. Finding the RightSubject/Niche

Finding the right niche is crucial to your success. By focusing on a specific theme or subject, you can target a niche audience that is passionate about that particular topic. For example, if you have a love for animals, you can create coloring books featuring various animal species, catering to animal lovers of all ages.

Whether it’s the calming and therapeutic nature of mandalas or the enchanting world of fairy tales, you can tap into the passion and interests of your target audience. By providing unique and captivating coloring book pages, you can create a loyal customer base that keeps coming back for more. By honing in on a niche, you can establish yourself as an expert in that area and build a loyal following of customers.

So you will need to do a bit of research on Amazon to see what books are selling and maybe take some inspiration for a sub niche.

2. Creating the Graphics

Today there are a number of AI resources you can now call upon to help with the issue of creating the graphics and I’ve listed a few here:

  • https://MidJourney.ai (paid for)
  • https://BlueWillow.ai (free trial)
  • https://Leonardo.ai (free)
  • https://starryai.com/app (free-works on credits which you earn each day/or you can buy)

Most of these use Discord as a base – very easy to sign up to and free. On Discord you can see other people’s designs and get further inspiration for your own.
Some of these are used in the resources that I will list further on and those products can help you create pages even faster. So no need to spend hours trying to ‘create’ yourself.

3. Compiling the book

A lot of programs teach you to use Canva (link) to compile your books and of course you can do this. It is entirely free to use, or you can take out a subscription for around $11 a month which gives you access to an even bigger library of elements, graphics, videos and more.

However, the free version is more than adequate to begin with. You will need to create the pages separately, then download and add a cover, which you can also create in Canva.

But for those of you who use the Affinity Suite you have all you need to compile your books, as well as make graphical edits to anything you download, purchase or create yourself. Affinity Publisher allows you to set up your own templates (to suit your selling platforms) and you can just pop your colouring pages in to the pages as you create them. They will then be the right size for Amazon or Etsy.

With AI Coloring Books – Royalty Prints (listed below), you can legally make and sell coloring books, without the need for any tech or design skills. This revolutionary system is 100% free, easy to use, and comes with built-in buyer traffic (Amazon), offering you endless opportunities to make money.

4. Publishing

Creating coloring books has never been easier. With AI Coloring Books – Royalty Prints and AI Coloring Empire (mentioned below), you don’t need to be a tech expert or a professional designer. The free AI software recommended with these systems simplifies the entire process, allowing anyone to create stunning coloring book pages effortlessly. Whether you’re a stay-at-home parent, an artist looking to monetize your skills, or someone passionate about coloring, these platforms are perfect for you.

Then all you need to do is upload your books on to Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Etsy or digital platform of your choice.

5. Marketing

You will need to spend a bit of time marketing. The free routes are via Social Media – the platform of your preference really, but the Facebook Stories, Youtube Shorts, Instagram Reels and TikTok videos are all good places to start for free.

Pinterest is also a great platform for such products, but you will need to be consistent with your pins to see growth.

So if you’re ready to embark on a journey where creativity meets profitability then here are three products that could be your ticket to success in the ever-growing coloring book market. Take a look at them and see which one fits your needs best. They are all pretty comprehensive.
